Palma city centre is waiting to give you a tour of its history, art and architecture, but also to indulge you in its countless shops and restaurants
A walk through the centre of Palma is paramount for any traveller visiting the island.
Keep your eyes open because the narrow medieval streets of the historic centre hide countless perfect treasures to enjoy on a Segway or bike tour. Gargoyles, arches, rose windows in Gothic churches, squares, those famous Majorcan patios, museums or even samples of urban art will accompany you on a tour that highlights gems like the Episcopal Palace, the Can Solleric Palace or the Santa Eulalia Church.
Heading towards the sea, you will find the imposing Mallorca Cathedral rising above the beautiful city bay. Remember that from April to October you can visit its stunning terraces. Next to the Cathedral is the Almudaina Palace adorned with the changing of the guards of honour on the last Saturday of each month, the La Mar park, La Lonja and Santa Cruz, and the old fishing quarter of the city filled with lively restaurants to stop and sample their tasty tapas.
We haven't forgotten about shopping, of course… From centuries old traditional shops in the Calatrava area to the luxurious boutiques on the Paseo del Born, the centre of Palma is also the commercial heart of the city, an ideal place for anyone to enjoy a full itinerary on foot.
