Museum Son Fornés

The Son Fornés museum is located in an old mill from the 18th century known as Molí des Fraret. This example of traditional Majorcan architecture collects the objects found in the excavations performed at the site.

The museum provides an insight into prehistoric Majorca and shows what it was like to live in the talayotic settlement of Son Fornés more than 2000 years ago. The current exhibition offers the research results based on the first eight excavation campaigns (up to 1988) exhibited in three rooms. Viewing these findings offers you a tour through the Pla de Mallorca’s most recent prehistory, up until the Roman conquest of the island in 123BCE.

This tour teaches you – through objects, images, texts and multimedia materials – how the inhabitants of Son Fornés lived in the Talayotic, Post-Talayotic and Classical periods, from the 9th century BCE to the 1st century CE. It also provides fun activities to enjoy with family or friends.
