Whether trail racing, cycle touring, mountain bike races, triathlons or regattas... many sporting events are organised in the Balearic Islands every year, attracting nature and sport lovers from all over the world.
The islands' favourable climate and mild temperatures throughout the year make them the ideal setting for sporting events, some at the highest level. The beauty of its landscapes and trails, the peacefulness of its villages and the quality of its sport facilities and accommodation will contribute to making your sporting experience an unforgettable trip. If you are bikers to the core, you will find your own paradise on the Balearic Islands. In fact, we have hotels and specialised companies that will provide you with all the equipment you need when you arrive. Our islands have 40 signposted cycle touring routes, with over 500 kilometres of breath-taking scenery, for cycling in competitions held outside the hottest months, such as the BBT Volta Cicloturista Formentera, the Ibiza BTT, the Volta Menorca BTT and the Epic Camí de Cavalls, which runs around the perimeter of the island along the old Minorcan communications route, and the International Masters Cycling Week, held on Majorca. If your thing is to test yourself with trail races, marathons or half marathons, what better than to spend a weekend on the Balearic Islands while you crush your records? You will feel the pure Mediterranean air, discover the most beautiful and remote landscapes and connect with the wildest nature. On Ibiza, there is the Ibiza Marathon, held in Santa Eulària des Riu, Ibiza Half Marathon and the 3-day Trail Ibiza. On Formentera, there is the All Round Trail, and on Menorca, the OTSO Trail Menorca is held every year, adapted to various levels. Majorca offers the Zafiro Palma Marathon and the Ciutat de Palma Half Marathon, which attract a large number of participants every year. If you are also crazy about regattas, the Balearic Islands offer several events for you to have a great time while sailing your boat on the calm waters of the Mediterranean. In 2021 alone, 225 sailing regattas were held around the Balearic Islands, some of them of the highest level, such as the Copa del Rey Mapfre, the most important sailing competition in the Mediterranean. Every year, Ibiza celebrates the famous Ruta de la sal, which attracts over 2,000 participants, and the Mahón Sailing Club (Minorca) organises the Copa del Rey de Vela Clásica, one of the most prestigious in its category.
