Cove S'Algar

Very close to Portocolom, one of the most beautiful and protected natural harbors in the east of Mallorca, is the S'Algar beach; it is also known as Cala de S'Algar and is situated between Sa Cova Gran and Cova des Bufador.

It is a beach with rocks and rocks - about 400 meters long – very often covered by a layer of Posidonia. The locals call this sea plant, which blooms, bears fruit and forms wide meadows on the sea floor, alga. In the past, the farmers harvested this sea grass to fertilize their fields and to bed their cattle. The rocky soils of the beach, with sandy sections, are ideal for diving. Do not forget your diving glasses! S'Algar is the first bay to the left of the Portocolom port; It is popular with fishermen and locals who appreciate their calmness and transparent water. The beach does not provide services; so do not forget something to drink and eat.

To reach the beach from Felanitx (14.3 km) or Manacor (25.4 km), follow the signs to Portocolom. The access to the beach is well signposted. You can park your car near the beach. Do not miss a visit to Portocolom: where you will find shops, bars and restaurants with an attractive gastronomic offer, and can take long walks in the infinitely beautiful harbor.
