Algaida (Mallorca)

Algaida is a village with a rural tradition that is very well connected with Palma and is developing an interesting strategy in the world of organic food and wine. This municipality supplies some of Mallorca's best restaurants with local produce and produces organic wine in long-established wine cellars, which are definitely worth a visit. The local market is held every Friday and offers a wide variety of “0 km” products. In addition, its spectacular natural surroundings, including six small mountains, make it one of the most charming municipalities in Mallorca.

One of its must-sees is the Santuari de Cura, located on top of Puig de Randa mountain, which is considered sacred and where the mystic and poet Ramon Llull reached enlightenment. The monastery's location offers impressive views of the surrounding area and Palma, and it has a guest house and a restaurant.

Another of Algaida's unusual attractions is the manufacture of designer glass. The Gordiola glass-blowing factory, run by the same family since 1719, is located in this town and it also has a museum.
