Felanitx (Mallorca)

Felanitx is a charming rural village that steals the hearts of lovers of authenticity and good wine. It is part of the Pla i Llevant de Mallorca DO (Denomination of Origin), so touring its vineyards, visiting its wineries and sitting down to taste the excellent wines produced in this region is a delightful way to get in touch with the authentic spirit of the place.

Strolling along its streets and admiring the testimonies of traditional Mallorcan architecture is a pleasure. A visit to the church of Sant Miquel, built between the 16th and 17th centuries in a wide variety of styles, is highly recommended.

The rock-hewn buildings in the vicinity of Felanitx are well worth a visit. One is the castell roquer (rock castle) of Santueri, which dates from 1228. Another recommended visit is the hermitage of Sant Salvador, which dates back to 1348. Both buildings stand in a high, strategic location offering magnificent views of the surrounding countryside and even the horizon out to sea.

Water sports enthusiasts will find their special place in Felanitx: Porto Colom is the natural harbour of the municipality. It is a picturesque and charming cove, which is home to fishing boats as well as sport boats and yachts. Near the port there are several beaches of interest, such as S'Arenal, Cala Mitjana or Cala Marçal.
