Municipality of Mallorca
Surrounded by farmland and less than 10 kilometres from the Bay of Alcúdia, Sa Pobla is an unmissable place to experience the most Mediterranean version of rural Mallorca. It is noted for producing potatoes, which are exported to several countries, and in June there is even a night fair dedicated to this tuber.
Nature is an important part of Sa Pobla. In fact, part of the Natural Park of s'Albufera de Mallorca, the largest wetland area in Mallorca belongs to this municipal district, where you will find a lot of activities and itineraries related to enjoying and learning about nature. Its wetlands are home to migratory birds, a very interesting place for birdwatchers.
But one of the hallmarks of Sa Pobla is sports tourism. Every year, various sport-related events are held in the town and it also has a wide range of resources and facilities for training elite sportsmen and women.
One essential visit is to the Museu d'Art Contemporani Can Planes, located on the ground floor of a manor house, which houses a collection of more than 100 works by painters and sculptors born or living in Mallorca.
