SANT FRANCESC XAVIER HISTORIC SITE

Sant Francesc Xavier is the capital of Formentera, so it is a must if you are visiting the island. Take the opportunity to try the ensalada payesa, made with the traditional peix sec of Formentera, at one of the terraces of the town and enjoy the tranquillity of the island in this month of March.

Continue your visit by taking a walk through the square and the historic site. The most important epicentre and building of the capital is the Church of Sant Francesc Xavier which, in its beginnings, as well as being a religious temple, was considered a defensive fortress.
