Ibiza is known for its dreamy Mediterranean beaches and vibrant nightlife, but also for its thriving arts scene and calendar of annual events, which allow us to experience Ibiza's art and culture to the full. This island paradise has long been a magnet for artists from all over the world, attracted by its natural beauty, rich culture and breathtaking scenery.

From painters and sculptors to musicians and artisans, Ibiza has inspired a wide range of creators who have left their mark on the island. As such, it offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of creativity and artistic expression through a wide variety of contemporary art galleries scattered across the island. From the heart of the city to the most remote corners, Ibiza always has a new and fascinating space for art lovers.

One of the must-sees for understanding the connection between avant-garde art and Ibiza’s recent history is the Museu d'Art Contemporani d'Eivissa (MACE). Located in the impressive Dalt Vila complex, a World Heritage Site, it is one of the oldest contemporary art museums in Spain and has a collection that is deeply committed to the avant-garde. Not to be missed!

However, if you are looking to explore the traces of the artists who have lived and created part of their work in Ibiza, we suggest you discover Casa Broner, the residence of the architect and painter Erwin Broner, an outstanding exponent of rationalist architecture on the island. Also the Espace Micus, an art centre dedicated to the legacy of the German painter Eduard Micus, surrounded by nature. Be careful, because it is only open on Sundays.

Discovering contemporary art in Ibiza also means getting to know the local artists who have left their mark on the society they inhabit. This is the case of the Hormigo family, with a lineage of Ibizan artists who have left an important legacy on the island. The main exponent is sculptor Antonio Hormigo Escandell, who specialises in wood carving and the creation of works with a clear Mediterranean inspiration. His works can be found in the MACE and in various cultural spaces on the island.

The island is dotted with countless art galleries that will delight lovers of the avant-garde. However, Ibiza also offers a variety of cultural events that celebrate the island's creativity and diversity. From electronic music festivals to open-air art exhibitions, there is always something exciting to do in Ibiza. Don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich culture of this incredible Mediterranean island.

In January and February, and even until the beginning of March, the almond trees in blossom offer a unique natural spectacle in Santa Agnès, Ibiza. This phenomenon, although not an event in itself, is appreciated by many as a special moment to enjoy nature on the island. In fact, the night walk Anem de lluna i miren-nos sa flor is held every year to coincide with the festivities of Santa Agnès (21 January). This is an excursion from Portmany to Corona to contemplate the almond trees in blossom by moonlight, a visual spectacle packed with beauty and particularly popular among Ibizans. As an added incentive, upon arrival at the destination, walkers will find a torrada of bread with sobrassada and wine at affordable prices.

Although the Santa Agnès festivities are not the only winter patron saint festivities on Ibiza. They also celebrate Sant Antoni (17th January), which includes a host of cultural, sporting and children's activities, nightclubs and the celebration of deep-rooted traditions of Ibiza, such as the cantades and ballades of folk groups and the procession of Sant Antoni Abat (Saint Anthony the Abbot).

Another town that celebrates its patron saint festivities in winter is Santa Eulària des Riu (12 February). Over a number of days, this beautiful town is full of life, music and colour: there are activities such as the vi pagès competition, a great opportunity to taste the island's excellent wines; regattas, talks, concerts and photography and poetry competitions.

In May, Ibiza is full of outstanding cultural and musical events. From the charm and fun of Medieval Eivissa, with its markets and historical re-enactments in Dalt Vila, to the prestigious International Music Summit, which attracts the biggest names in electronic music.

June brings with it the independent music festival Somnis de Llibertat and the Pasarela Adlib, the big Ibiza fashion event. After the summer solstice comes the CAN Art Fair, an event that brings together more than 30 national and international artists created to discover the most innovative and current artistic currents on the international scene.

September brings a lull, but Ibiza continues to delight its visitors with a variety of interesting events, such as the Eivissa Jazz festival. A variety of local and international artists provide the soundtrack to the corners of the spectacular citadel of Dalt Vila.

Ibiza remains an essential meeting point for lovers of art, music and culture. From the cobbled streets of Dalt Vila to the modern exhibition spaces, the island's blue and white light continues to attract those seeking to immerse themselves in great Mediterranean beauty.
