An old salt warehouse converted into one of the most unique and cutting-edge museums on the island
La Nave Salinas is one of the most unique contemporary art exhibition centres in Ibiza. Since it opened in 2015, it has aimed to place the island within the international art circleand turn it into a meeting point for artists.
And the artists can meet in a building full of history: an old stone warehouse built in 1941, located in the coastal area of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. It was originally designed to store salt and thus provide jobs following the Spanish civil war.
Contemporary art collector Lio Malca discovered the building decades later in 2015, and transformed it into a space dedicated to bringing contemporary art to the community through his personal collection and exhibitions by internationally renowned artists.
KAWS, Marco Brambilla, Keith Haring, Bill Viola and Kenny Scharf have all had exhibitions there.
