Church Sant Carles de Peralta

Religious architecture from the last third of the 18th century. It has an outstanding porch with three access archways and a double archway inside. The church of Sant Carles de Peralta, dedicated to Saint Charles, is in the centre of the town of the same name.

This religious structure from the last third of the 18th century was badly damaged during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), lost a large part of its furniture and was later rebuilt.

It has a rectangular ground plan, with a single nave, the ‘Fonda’ or ‘del Roser’ chapel, upper choir, with seven small side openings that are used as chapels and annexed structures that give it a defensive and highly volumetric appearance that is strengthened further by the white of the walls. The annexed structures include the rectory and a cultural centre, among other elements.

The long and wide porch, which is accessed through three round arches supported by pillars, is especially important. The arches are continued inside with a double row and with exposed wooden beams. There is also a small well.

On the outside it is important to note the roof of the Roser chapel and the corner bell gable.
