Set off on a historical journey through Majorca's landscapes, prehistory, traditional architecture and rural trades
The Son Real public estate is one of the most important examples of Majorca's archaeological heritage. It is located in the municipality of Santa Margalida, on land occupied since pre-Talayotic times, and brings together archaeological elements, a Majorcan possessión (stately home) of medieval origin and various areas of great natural, scenic and ethnological value.
The visitor centre for the Son Real public estate consists of two buildings, Es Sestadors and La Casa dels Senyors, which have been refurbished to offer visitors a multimedia route to guide them on their visit to the estate.
Admission to the visitor centre and museum is free. Through a tour rich in audiovisual elements, they provide an insight into the way of life of the former residents of the estate, which was based on understanding nature and living in harmony with natural cycles.
The museum also represents the cultures that have inhabited the area since prehistoric times and how they interacted with the environment, as well as the traditional techniques that allowed them to live entirely off the land.
