Sant Antoni de Portmany (Ibiza)

Sant Antoni de Portmany is a charming and famous Mediterranean village known for the beauty of its bay and for its magical sunsets on the coast of Ses Variades. For this reason, it is nowadays an important tourist centre and has many popular coves. However, the experienced traveller will have no difficulty in discovering the true traditional, seafaring essence of this little Ibizan village. You will find it in the hand-embroidered fabrics in some of the shops on Passeig de ses Fonts, or in the leather, costume jewellery, ceramics and Ibizan fashions.

One of the recommended visits is the Cova de ses Fontanelles, a cave located on a cliff 50 metres above sea level, with spectacular views of the islets to the west, which houses a collection of cave paintings dating from 1,000 BC. This cave is also known as Cova des vi, as it also served as a wine cellar.

Hiking enthusiasts can also enjoy the more rural version of Sant Antoni, which has several routes running through pine forests and fields, and along beaches and cliffs, offering a unique perspective on this part of the island.

Within the municipal boundaries of Sant Antoni de Portmany you can also visit other villages, such as Sant Rafel, declared an Area of Artisan Interest for its ceramics activity; Sant Mateu, known for its wines; and Santa Agnès de Corona, whose natural beauty when adorned by almond trees in blossom captivates visitors.
