Museum Can Ros, Museu Etnogràfic d'Eivissa

Can Ros, an example of popular architecture, houses a museum specialised in local cultural material, showing commonplace household objects and objects from rural crafts.

This is a village house that holds a museum of local culture. It has a permanent display of farming and fishing tools, clothing, jewellery, household objects, craftsman's tools, carts, folk musical instruments, etc. as well as temporary exhibits. It also has a library and video library on ethnographic subjects, and holds arts and crafts workshops open to the public as well as more didactic ones. It also hosts sociocultural events (Summer Nights, Saturdays at the Museum, etc.).

The house and the museum make a very nice combination. The house was restored and remodelled by the architect Joan Prats Bonet, adding a construction to house the parts of an old "trull" (an olive press).

It offers visitors a good example of a rural folk dwelling with its characteristic elements: the main room (porxo", kitchen, bedrooms ("cases de dormir"), oil press, balcony, well and cistern. It has a small enlargement, Can Sorá, in the Ses Païsses settlement at Cala d'Hort, near one of the loveliest beach coves on the island. It is run by the Consell d'Eivissa with the collaboration of the Fundació Illes Balears.
