Mahón is a city with a wealth of history, so it’s definitely worth visiting the main sites in the island’s capital: the Fortaleza de la Mola, the biggest and most important example of military engineering in Menorca. In the centre of Mahón, in the Plaza de la Constitución, is the Town Hall, with its emblematic 18th-century clock overlooking the square. Other recommended visits are to the Iglesia de Santa María and the Portal de San Roque, also known as the Bastión de San Roc, and the remains of the main gate in the walls that surrounded the city.

The Ciutadella de Menorca, the former capital city of Menorca, is a town with tons of charm and historic character. We recommend a visit to the main places of interest, such as the Catedral de Menorca, the island’s largest gothic building; the Plaza Es Born, which is so emblematic of the city; the Castillo de San Nicolás, the most modern and elegant tower in Menorca; and finally the Museo Municipal de la Ciudadela, the town’s municipal museum, to admire the rich historic heritage of the island of Menorca.

Menorca itself is an open-air museum with a huge variety of megalithic constructions that give an insight into the lives and customs of the island’s prehistoric inhabitants.
