The astronomical observatory that has made the largest number of direct discoveries in the history of Spanish astronomy
The Costitx Astronomical Observatory is the most important astronomical centre of the Balearic Islands and the easternmost in Spain. Its most important activities include the comet and asteroid research and tracking programme.
The Costitx Astronomical Observatory was inaugurated in May 1991, projected by architect Alberto Velázquez Arroyo. It is the first astronomical centre in this autonomous community and the easternmost in Spain. Its purpose is twofold: promoting astronomical research and spreading knowledge in the field of astronomy. Its most important activities include the comet and asteroid research and tracking programme.
There are guided tours of the observatory and the planetarium.
