Beach Es Carnatge

The name can be explained by the activity here until the end of the 19th century: Skinning the corpse of the animals, using the skin for different reasons and the bones for the elaboration of soap. 

This coastal corner presents a rocky cliff of small height and fossil beaches of quaternary origin, with an enormous scientific values. This is why es Carnatge was declared Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès (four hectares). It is a small area with huge geological and paleontological interest of the pleistocenus. The deposits of fossil fauna have allowed to make climatic and geological studies of Majorca. 

This rocky and isolated rocky piece has an excellent panoramic view over the bay of Palma, a marine ground with a huge biological diversity, although bathing is not possible. If you want to swim, you can choose between the nearby beaches of Ciutat Jardí (on the west) or Cala Estància (on the east).
