Church Nuestra señora de la Porciúncula

The Church of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles (1968) is the work of Majorcan architect José Ferragut Pou. By using concrete, he managed to design an airy open space with thirty-nine stained-glass windows.

Entry is through a rectangular hall adjacent to the church. The exterior, like the interior, is dotted with thirty-six windows that run between the concrete tracery and crown the domed rooftop. The layout is oval-shaped. The stained glass windows are matched in richness by the floor tiles and the decorative sculptures depicting religious themes, mostly related to the Franciscan order.

A few feet from the church is the museum. Its three rooms contain holdings from archaeology, ethnology, numismatics, and a small space with objects brought back by Franciscan missionaries in Peru. It was founded (1971) by Fray Joan Llabrés.

Tickets may be purchased for visits from Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 7:30 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
