Courtyard Can Rul·lan

The former home of the Marquis of Reguer, which in the mid-19th Century passed to the Counts of San Simón, due to the marriage of Lluís San Simón i Orlandis and Elisabet de Montaner i de Villalonga.

The Barceló Foundation has its head office in the building known as Casa del Marqués de Reguer-Rullán. The title of Marquis de Reguer was granted by his majesty King Phillip V to Mr Francisco Amar de Montaner y Dameto in 1739. After several vicissitudes and changes of ownership over the centuries, in 1985 the Barceló Oliver family acquired the building where the head office of the Barceló Foundation is currently located.

In 1988 building restoration works began, which took more than three years and were carried out by the architect Jaime Torrens Bonet, while the house was decorated by Joan Quetglas. It is a Neo-Gothic style manor house with a central courtyard, which was completed in 1883. (The author Bartolomé Ferrà (1843-1924).

Given the title of Master of Architecture by the Royal Academy of San Carlos de Valencia. He is considered a Neo-Gothic architect and the builder of medievalist ideology. He tried to return to the primitive and simple style of the 18th and 19th Centuries.

He combines his activity as an architect with literature and archaeology. He produced a large number of works, mostly religious, as well as complementary projects such as altarpieces and coffered ceilings, such as Our Lady of Lluc, whose drawing matches the great hall of the Casa del Marqués de Reguer-Rullán). The authority of the facade is outstanding, built with marés sandstone and a limestone base. It has a wide portal entrance with a semi-circular arch displaying the shield of Marquis de Reguer on the keystone.
