Cove Des Camps

This small, unspoiled area near the tourist center of the Colònia de Sant Pere is the result of the erosion of the earth by a torrente (mountain stream) and the sea.

The shore, 100 meters long and one meter wide, combines the sandy sections with rocks covered by remains of the Posidonia plant. The Posidonia is a marine plant which enriches the water of the Mediterranean with oxygen. In the back part of the beach you can see a tamarind forest growing on the sand and a pleasant shade in the summer and on the edge of the beach an old bunker and fishing shed or escars where the fishermen keep their boats and equipment. It is a wonderful secluded place where you have to take a drink and a meal, as well as your diving glasses, as spectacular underwater landscapes await you on the seabed of the bay. Cala dels Camps Vells is known by various names, but some historians believe that the original name of the beach is always Caló des Cans (Small Bay of Dogs). The beach is located between the Punta de Caloscans - a natural viewpoint overlooking the bay of Alcúdia and Sa Cugassa, near the Betlem chapel, an excursion you should not miss to enjoy the wonderful views of the mountains and sea to enjoy.

To get to the beach from Artà (17.9 km), follow the road signs to Port d'Alcúdia and later to the Colònia de Sant Pere, where you will see the turnoff to the Caló des Camps beach.
