Cove Figuera

The large peninsula of Formentor forms a sandy bay with pebbles, which is emblematic because of its location.

Cala Figuera de Formentor (not to be confused with those of Calvià y Santanyí) invites you to a bath at the northernmost beach of the island, between Punta dels Aucells and Punta d'enTomàs. In this hidden bay, the fishermen's sheds with their ramps, wooden piles and roofs of palm fronds (escars in Mallorquin) are the only testimony of human hands. They are used to store the smaller llaüts (the traditional fishing boats). Are you looking for peace? Here you will find it. The nearest bar or restaurant is located 5 km away, on the beach of Formentor and in the port of Puerto de Pollença, which is 15 km away.

The orography and the natural environment of the bay are unique. On the right edge are high cliffs; opposite, the opening to the sea, oriented towards the north-east; on the left, the sandstone rocks; and in the background, the Fumat Mountain, with 334 meters of altitude. If you feel like it, you can climb to the top and enjoy wonderful views. But if you want to stay in Cala Figuera: the seabed is worth a visit with diving glasses and snorkel. Besides the Posidonia sea grass meadows, you will discover many other types of underwater flora and fauna on this island.
