Cove Murta

On the rugged Formentor peninsula there is a hidden pebble beach, which offers you an extraordinary beauty.

The landscape, surrounded by pines, oaks and natural myrtles (murta in Majorcan language) combines the beauties of the island coast with those of the mountains. The mouth of a ravine makes the lush vegetation of this natural environment possible. You have to "work out" on a walk of almost 2 km, but the walk is certainly worth it. The beach is sheltered and offers one of the rare safe places for anchoring or diving in calm waters at this rugged coastal section. Its seclusion, its almost untouched character and its northern location give this beach lend this beach a special charm. To bathe in the crystal-clear water, we recommend rubber sandals: they will protect your feet both from pebbles, from peaks in the sea floor or from sea urchins.

Please do not forget that in Cala Murta you will only find the refreshing water and pure nature; so you have to take everything you need: drinking water, food and sun protection. What more could you ask for? The beach is located in the extreme north of Majorca, 15 km from the port of Pollença, the starting point of your tour. On the road to the lighthouse of Formentor you have to take the road that turns to the right to leave your car there and walk to the sea on foot.
