Enliven your evenings at the Port de Sóller Classical Music Festival

The picturesque and compact Puerto de Sóller plays host to one of the most popular and acclaimed concerts on the island, held every year throughout the month of October.

The sun sets over the sea to the soothing sound of the waves and the sky turns a reddish orange. The smells of the Mediterranean Sea fill the air while boats dock in the port. There is a brief silence and the keys of a piano gently begin to sound, accompanied by violins, cellos and other musical instruments. This wonderful festival is held every year during the month of October in Port de Sóller, in the Serra de Tramuntana; the principal venue is the Oratory of Santa Catalina. This oratory, built in the thirteenth century, was destroyed during a pirate attack in 1542 and later rebuilt in 1550. It was for many years the most important place of pilgrimage in the valley of Sóller and it now holds the Sóller Museum of the Sea and the Classical Music Festival.

The transformation of Port de Sóller into an area of undeniable quality was and continues to be a positive influence in developing cultural activities like this festival, among many others. The restoration of the fishing district, the old arsenal and the Museum of the Sea has brought fame and quality to the place and made it a prime destination for lovers of classical music.

Internationally-renowned artists come to the festival every year and transform the place into a unique setting with hours and hours of unforgettable music.
