A haven of greenery in the middle of the Paseo Marítimo, where visitors can enjoy the best views of the bay of Palma
The park was inaugurated in 1970, taking advantage of the space left by the lazaretto in the port of Palma, which had been built during the epidemic that devastated the Mediterranean and other parts of Europe in 1652. Thanks to its design by architects Vicente Bayo García and Alejandro Villalba, it connects the Paseo Marítimo with the El Terreno neighbourhood, which extends to the foot of the Bellver forest.
Visitors can enter through the old monumental sea gate, lined up with the promenade and crowned with the coats of arms of the Kingdom and the City of Majorca. The route zigzags up stairs or ramps, through a lush garden of Mediterranean and tropical vegetation accompanied by a simulated torrent running from the concrete fountain. At strategic points, there are viewpoints overlooking the bay.
At the top, there is a terrace with a children's playground and a kiosk. The ceramic mural by Luis Castaldo, which fills the intense green of the small park with colour, particularly stands out.
