The festival of citrus fruits opens the summer of the Sierra de Tramuntana
The Valley of the Oranges, in which the charming villages of Sóller and Fornalutx are located, honors its two most important products: orange and lemons. They are the main actors of an agenda of events and the dishes of the restaurants of this region.
In the third week of June, coinciding with the arrival of the summer, Sóller, Port de Sóller and Fornalutx celebrate the Gastronomic Days of the Orange. For a few days, the aroma of the citrus fruits cultivated in this fertile valley of the Sierra de Tramuntana is even more intense.
The Plaça de la Constitució Square in Sóller is filled with stalls selling such delicious products as marmalades and jams, liqueurs, juices or sweets, all made with oranges and lemons. They are a perfect souvenir to take home with you.
In addition, twenty Restaurants of the three municipalities are joining the Feast of Taste, offering menus at affordable prices, where citrus fruit is one of the most important ingredients.
If you do not want to miss these days and enjoy all that the valley has to offer, we suggest you to visit Sóller with its enchanting wooden train, which departs every day in the heart of Palma to enjoy this trip from the first minute. Once you arrive in Sóller, you can take the tram to Port de Sóller and the citrus creations to an all-inclusive pride.
In the afternoon you can visit the Feria de Oportunidades, the Fair of Occasions. It's the best chance to buy a vintage piece or just stroll out of curiosity through the market.
