Hermitage Santa Magdalena

The Santa Magdalena oratory and hermitage are located on the peak of the same name, Puig de Santa Magdalena, around six kilometres from the city of Inca and rising 307 metres high.

There is evidence of the existence of a hermitage on this site since shortly after the Catalan conquest of Mallorca in 1229. The façade stands out for its simplicity, and it opens up with a portal featuring a semicircular arch and an upper rose window. On the Sunday after Easter Sunday, which is called Diumenge de l'Àngel (Angel Sunday) on Mallorca, the hermitage is the destination of a huge influx of pilgrims.

From on high you can get amazing views of the county of Es Raiguer and the bays of Alcúdia and Pollença. There is a restaurant specialising in Mallorcan cuisine, as well as a recreational area with drinking fountains. You can take several hikes around the area, such as along the stone-linked pathway leading to the cross on Puig de la Minýo peak, over Talayotic remains, and on the pathways that run close to the estates of Son Gual, Son Frare, Son Catlar, Son Vivot and Son Sastre —fine examples of rural architecture.
