Campanet (Mallorca)

Campanet is a picturesque little village situated between mountains and valleys. It is a place to take a leisurely stroll through its narrow streets, admire the façades of the village houses in the old quarter, the mountain landscape and the impressive baroque church of the Immaculate Conception in Plaça Major square.  But if you are looking for action and adventure, there's plenty to do in the surrounding area. It is an excellent area for hiking and admiring the stunning mountain scenery.

One of the most highly recommended visits is to the Coves de Campanet. This is an underground grotto that was discovered by chance by a local resident in 1945, and is now visited by hundreds of people because of the large number of stalactites and stalagmites. The caves are about 50 metres deep, have an approximate surface area of 3,200 m2 and a length of almost 500 metres.

Also, on the outskirts of Campanet is the chapel of Sant Miquel, dating from the 13th century; this church is one of the best places to see. In the municipality you can also view the natural monument of Les Fonts Ufanes, a natural hydro-geological phenomenon unique in the Balearic Islands. When it rains heavily and exceeds the capacity of the aquifer, the water gushes violently to the surface, offering an exceptional natural spectacle.
