Capdepera (Mallorca)

Both the village and the municipal district of Capdepera are a place full of history and tradition. Located at the eastern end of the island, walking through its streets is like travelling back in time. It stands out for having great examples of the typical architecture of the Balearic Islands: some of its stately homes are among the oldest in Spain, the building where the town hall is located, the church of Sant Joan and the parish church of Sant Bartomeu are some examples that will leave visitors with their mouths wide open.

One of the main attractions of the place is the Castell de Capdepera, an Asset of Cultural Interest. It is a fortification built in the 14th century on a hill that offers excellent views of the area. It was built by order of King Jaume II to protect the inhabitants of the area from looting and pirate attacks.

The municipality of Capdepera offers several routes for hiking, of all levels of difficulty, and for enjoying the impressive views of the Menorca channel, from where, on clear days, you can even see the neighbouring island.  In addition, there are several beaches where you can relax and get away from the world, such as Cala Mesquida, Canyamel beach and Cala Agulla.
