Marratxí (Mallorca)

Marratxí is a paradise for ceramics and handicrafts, 10 minutes from Palma de Mallorca. In fact, it even has a museum dedicated to pottery, the Museu del Fang. This space is located in an old flour mill, in Sa Cabaneta, and brings together many traditional ceramic pieces and the typical siurells, the little clay figurines that function as whistles. The Fira del Fang fair is held in April.

In addition, Marratxí is home to historic factories making emblematic products, such as Túnel herbs, Amazona rum, Flor d'Ametller almond blossom perfume and Bodegas Suau, the only brandy factory in Mallorca.

But Marratxí offers much more than ceramics and handmade products. The cave of Son Caulelles is the most outstanding prehistoric archaeological site. A visit to Marratxinet is also highly recommended: it is the oldest village in the municipality, where you can admire outstanding buildings, such as Can Vador and Can Serra.

For those who love an easy, relaxing walk, Marratxí offers Healthy Routes, for getting to know the municipality from a different, more natural, slow and calm viewpoint. The Camino de la Cimentera, Camino del Jardín d'en Ferrer or Camino de Ca na Maiola are some of the options available.
