If the Part forana of Mallorca had a heart, it would be in Sineu. Due to its location, this small town was the administrative centre of the interior of the island in medieval times, known as the Part forana. For this reason, in the 14th century King Jaume II built a royal residence in Sineu, which today has been converted into a cloistered convent whose church can still be visited.

As it is considered the capital of the Part forana, its old quarter still forms an extremely interesting historical and architectural whole: on its streets still preserve examples of old stately homes, witnesses of its splendid past, the church of Santa María de Sineu, with its marvellous star-shaped dome ringed with stained glass windows, and the Convent of Los Mínimos and its unique cloister, which today houses the town hall, library and Municipal Archive of Sineu.

All its historical and artistic legacy, together with its traditional weekly market, make Sineu an essential place to visit for those who want to discover the most authentic Mallorca.
