Museum Fundació Juan March

The Museum offers a collection of 20th century Spanish art by the most important artists of the early avant-garde (Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Juan Gris and Salvador Dalí), the post-war (the El Paso group, Saura, Millares, Tàpies, and others), posterior (Equipo Crónica, Gordillo, Antonio López, Carmen Lafón, etc.) and more recent artists (Miquel Barceló).

In addition to the permanent collection, which is regularly updated, its rooms are used for temporary exhibits of great renown, some in-house and some from their foundation of the same name in Madrid. It also has a section dedicated to graphic works on paper by Pablo Picasso. At the same time, it carries out an educational programme for school students, universities, families and groups, including guided tours and workshops.

The museum is located in the historical centre in an old 17th-century manor (Can Gallard del Canyar) enlarged in the 19th century with adjoining buildings, which Juan March Ordinas acquired in 1916 to take up residence in Palma. It underwent deep remodelling by the architect Guillem Reynés i Font. In 1990 the entire building underwent another refurbishing to house the collection of contemporary Spanish art of the Fundación Juan March.
