Enagistes Tower (La Torre dels Enagistes), which is home to the Manacor History Museum, is a unique example of majestic Mallorcan architecture from the 14th Century.
The building is formed by a series of rectangular structures arranged around the patio. These structures are the result of the different periods in which they were added. In the 17th Century, the heir of the family entered the Society of Jesus and in 1651 donated the property to the Order of Saint Ignatius (hence the toponymical metamorphosis of the name to "Enagistes").
After the expulsion of the Jesuits, in 1767 it became property of the royal family and in 1985 it was acquired by the Local Council of Manacor. The museum has a prehistoric room, another room dedicated to the Roman period, one for the early Christian period, the Islamic room, a miniature furniture room and another room displaying sketches. This museum also includes a good exhibition of contemporary Mallorcan art.
