Restaurant Celler de Petra

The construction of this magnificent winery, or celler, dates back to the mid-19th century when a gentleman of the era had a cellar built for storing his wines. It remained a wine cellar until in the mid-20th century when it began to turn into a meeting place where meals were made for the Californians who came from Petra after visiting the museum on one of the most famous missionaries of the whole island, our beloved Brother Junípero Serra.

During the 1970s and ‘80s the celler belonged to a succession of different people who ran it as a bar and meeting place for people from the village, who played cards and had afternoon snacks there. Finally, for the last 16 years, it has been a restaurant where one can try the very best, most authentic Mallorcan cuisine. Rescuing ancient recipes our ancestors used for cooking, and utilising seasonal products and with an exquisite selection of homemade desserts, also made using traditional recipes.

In this “Celler“ one can enjoy traditional fare such as snails with ‘alioli’ and potatoes, roast lamb and suckling pig, “arròs brut“, ‘tumbet’, ‘frit’, etc… and also a large selection of grilled meats. And naturally, you can also enjoy the best wines from the island and the village itself.
