Visit the Caves of Drach

Can you hear that? That's the sound of droplets trickling down ancient stalactites and falling into one of the largest underground lakes in the world. We invite you to experience this for yourself on a tour of the Caves of Drach, a route that will leave you speechless as you explore the four underground caves that lie deep inside Porto Cristo.

The Caves of Drach are among the largest in Majorca, reaching almost 2400 m in length and a maximum depth of 25 m below the surface. They were formed by the inflow of the sea and are believed to date from the Miocene period.

Sheltered by the four caverns is Lake Martel, which is one of the largest underground lakes in the world at 117 metres long and 30 metres wide. It is slightly salty, proving its connection with the Mediterranean sea, and has a temperature of about 17ºC.

In this enchanting and mysterious setting classical music concerts are held every day, featuring works by Caballero, Chopin, Offenbach and other composers. After the concert, you can take a boat trip on the lake. A tour through the immensity of the cave will reveal incredible stalactites and stalagmites, which are lit up thanks to the work carried out in 1935 by engineer Carlos Buigas.

We recommend purchasing tickets on the Cuevas del Drach website.
