Get ready to fall head over heels with the intoxicating beauty of this Majorcan town

Valldemossa has earned the right to be an indisputable stop on your trip to Mallorca. Located about 20 km from the capital city, you will find a pastoral town with cobbled streets, full of flowers and potted plants, which famous individuals have walked through such as the romantic couple Chopin and George Sand, Rubén Darío or Jorge Luis Borges

They all stayed at La Cartuja, one of the best-known historical and artistic buildings in the town. Here, you can visit its rooms full of history and fantastic gardens and if you’ve ever wanted to relive the life of the most famous guest in Valldemossa, then stick around for the annual International Chopin Festival.

You can’t leave without experiencing the devotion of the people in Valldemossa towards blessed Saint Catalina Thomas, whom the town dedicates its festivities to in late July and a sculpture next to Saint Bartholomew Church. And don’t forget to taste the traditional coques de patata; these Majorcan cakes are made with all the flavours of the island’s traditional cooking and go perfectly with a coffee or some ice cream. A good day to swing by Valldemossa and buy these cakes is on a Sunday when the market is on.
