Beyond its innate beauty, Ibiza is an island with different versions of itself, an authentic area where you can live a few days in peace, hippie essence and moments of luxury
On this incredible five-day tour through Ibiza, we will show you the different faces of the island, which can combine their different profiles in perfect harmony. Are you ready to explore with us all the good things hidden behind the sunsets and international DJs? Our first stop? The traditional, authentic and cultural Ibiza.
With its many centuries of history one could say that Ibiza is a hymn to the old traditions and the firmly anchored customs. Therefore, and because it is the gateway to culture-rich Ibiza, Salt Vila - World Heritage Site of UNESCO - is the starting point of this trip to the local face of the island. The best way to start the day like a real Ibicenco is to have breakfast in the mythical Café Sydney (Marina Botafoch), then take the course to the Plaça de Vila square. Our recommendation? Enjoy the first hours of the day.
After a stroll through the artisan workshops and every corner of the narrow streets, we invite you to get to know the place of great historical value such as the Esglèsia de Santo Domingo church, the Casa de la Curia or the cathedral, built on the foundations of the ancient Yebisah Mosque.
With Dalt Vila still impressed in our memory and after the little pleasures that the capital offers, we continue our journey in search of the coveted tranquility of the Pitiüsa Island, with the aim of reaching an unconventional, but very recommendable destination: Es Cubells. Although it is a very small village (perhaps one of the smallest in the municipality of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia), Es Cubells is a place full of charm that continues to put on silence, anonymity and the lives of the pageses farmers in the fields.
Although you will not find any major churches or important monuments here, Es Cubells has one of those places that leave no one unaffected. It is the small Es Vedrà Island, a pointed rock, surrounded by legends ranging from mystical to the incredible. You can visit the small and pretty church and witness the fertile fields, but you should surely enjoy the size of the cliffs and the charm of the Es Vedrà boulders. The best? The proximity to the really beautiful bays of the fishermen (like Ses Boques or Cala Llentrisca) and the Cala d'Hort Nature Park. A picnic at one of these places is certainly an idea that will lead to success.
Although the island is known for its undisputed nightlife and for some of the world's largest and best known discos, Ibiza is also a place full of colors, djembés music and a highly contagious, special and magical atmosphere, a natural and free flair that makes the island a unique place. To get to know this folk face of Ibiza is what we propose for this second day of the route of the thousand faces of Ibiza. But to fully enjoy this experience, you have to adapt to the hippie environment. What do you need? A pair of typical sandals, a summery bridle, a senalla - the traditional bag made of raffia - on the shoulder and some arm and neckbands. Yes, both for her and for him.
Although you can feel this hippie character in the island's main town and in places like Sant Antoni de Portmany (as on almost the whole island, there are other places on Ibiza that boast of this bohemian, natural and mystical way of life.
Start the route in Sant Carles de Peralta; it is the hippie village par excellence. This little village with its white houses became the home of the "peluts" (the "long-haired", as the hippies were called on the island) when they arrived in the 60s on the island. Small, friendly and full of charm. A stroll through its streets makes us feel the entire hippy essence of Ibiza, which has crossed the borders.
After a stroll through the streets and the beautiful main square and a visit to the church, you can enjoy a lunch with local flavor in the mythical Bar Anita (Ca n'Anneta). It is famous for the homemade spirits made of the island´s herbs.
Recharge your batteries with a good dish of the island; enjoy the dessert and feel the tranquility of the place, as the next stop is the biggest hippie market on the island: the famous Mercadillo de Las Dalias.
It is located in Sant Carles and is the ideal village to get to know the hippie "industry" of Ibiza. The market takes place every Saturday and with its more than two hundred stands, Las Dalias is the paradise of hand-made clothes and jewelry, a spot where you can find true hippy treasures or enjoy a massage at some stalls or the gastronomy delicacies in the Soul Bar.
In the late afternoon, the hippie spirit is concentrated on Cala de Benirrás beach (in Sant Miquel). Worldwide famous for its incredible sunsets, Benirrás - with its little more than a hundred meters in length - is the meeting point of sunsets hunters. They dance in circles to the sound of the drums and play with their fire pois to say goodbye to the sun. After experiencing the magic of the sunset, you can extend your day with a dinner in Elements Ibiza, one of the local restaurants.
Although the largest of the Pitiüsas Islands shows us its many faces, it is the nightlife that has made Ibiza world famous. Vibrant, authentic and extravagant - the nights of Ibiza are lived in the capital as soon as the sun goes down. After the day is gone, the capital changes its skin and is filled with the rhythm, and the dance begins and continues into the morning hours. Do you want to experience a unique night? Your first stop should be the terraces in the heart of Vila (in the capital). With tapas bars and other, mostly local products, these lanes of Ibiza awaken to life thanks to all those who gather strength before they start their route through the most important discos. In addition to a dinner with good wine, you can enjoy the procession of the dancers of the most important discos, filling the labyrinth of the streets of Vila encouraging you to visit the discos. In Ibiza we can see two different situations: the case of all those who want to enjoy a quiet night, and the case of those who want to enjoy the last musical creations of the Dj's like Steve Aoki, David Guetta or Skrillex and many others. If you belong to the first group, La Marina de Ibiza (Marina Botafoch) is your place. It is full of glamorous spots where you can enjoy a unique view. But if you want to dance until dawn, discos like Pacha Ibiza, Privilege, Amnesia or Space are the right option for you.If, however, you want to enjoy the sunrise after a unique and vibrant night, you should not miss the opportunity to visit one of the many small bars in the harbor; without any doubt, a unique and highly recommended experience.
Although it is customary to visit Ibiza with your partner or with your friends, the Pitiüsas Island is also a recommended destination to spend a few relaxing days with the family. Quiet, natural and with a unique range of leisure activities, the island focuses on family tourism in Santa Eulària des Riu, one of its most beautiful, most important and most representative villages.
Santa Eulària (as the village is commonly called) is regarded as the capital of the north. It is a place where you can find everything and where you can experience nature, cuisine, leisure and culture. With the aim of experiencing a complete day in the village, we begin the itinerary with a breakfast in the heart of the village, and then ascend to the Puig de Missa in the quiet of the morning. It is a tiny collection of white houses, among which a beautiful 16th century church stands out.
After enjoying the view (and one or the other snapshot) head back to the capital of the north to stroll around the town. In its narrow streets, you will not only find various craft shops, but also the right gastronomic temples where you can taste one of the local delicacies or a glass of the famous Formentera wine (a strong but highly recommended wine).
With the good summer temperatures, any lunch in Santa Eulària should be enjoyed with a view of the sea, if possible, on the long and idyllic beach promenade. With its palm trees and its many beach bars, the beach promenade of Santa Eulària is the perfect place to enjoy the summer of Ibiza like nowhere else.
Although you can use the afternoon to visit the beach, our recommendation is to enjoy with the family the natural tranquility of the nearby bays such as Llonga, Playa de Es Canar and Cala Llenya (this last in just over five Kilometer distance from our destination).
On this journey to the thousand faces of Ibiza, a visit to the exclusive and chic face of the island cannot be missed. This itinerary will make it possible for you to feel like a true celebrity and the unique experiences, visits to corners of incredible beauty and the best cuisine will certainly not be missing. Where do we start the route? In Eivissa, the capital, with a gentleman's breakfast ... .yes, with an Oscar-like breakfast.
Although there are many places that offer a breakfast for the gods, we advise you to follow the steps of the famously visiting Ibiza. They choose one of these two places: Croissant Show and Es Tap Nou. Famous for the breakfast with a certain French flavor, Croissant Show is a cafeteria offering unique views of the fortress and Dalt Vila, a place to enjoy really good coffee and exclusive and freshly baked pastries. If, however, you are looking for fruit juices and the trendiest flavors, then your place is Tap Nou, on the Plaza del Parque square. Our recommendation? Scrambled eggs on toast.
The whole morning is open to you to discover the hottest corners of Ibiza. You can choose between the unspoiled and hidden bays and a visit to the less accessible and exclusive corners of the island with a multi-hour sailing trip. Although you can rent a boat only for yourself and your family, the choice of a charter yacht with captain is the ideal option; so, you can forget worries and enjoy.
The trip can be extended until after lunch and you may visit the small Es Vedrá Island, and coves like Cala Mastella or Es Canaret (near Atlantis). You can even discover such incredible places as the impressive Cueva de la Luz.
Back in the harbor and in the light of the last sunrays, it's time to plan for the rest of the day. Although many will decide for the sunset in Benirrás or a dinner on the beach (in places like El Chiringuito), no route through the "Ibiza of luxury" can end without a stroll through the marina or a selected dinner in a restaurant such as Lío or Heart, the new gastronomic concept of Ferrán and Albert Adrià in collaboration with Le Cirque du Soleil.
