Natural Monument Es Broll de Buscastell

Es Broll de Buscastell is a small valley located in the Buscastell area that offers an authentic experience of the most rural and traditional Ibiza. With an extension of almost 5 kilometres, Es Broll stands out for its impressive irrigation system, inherited from the ancient Muslims. The orchards, surrounded by stone walls, are irrigated by canals, ditches and ponds that run the length of the valley, creating a unique landscape.

The natural spring of Es Broll flows spontaneously during the rainy season, filling the valley with temporary fountains and waterfalls. This aquifer, one of the most important in Ibiza, is the source of life for the terraces of almond, orange, carob and olive trees that adorn the landscape. The atmosphere of the place is magical, reminiscent of a hidden oasis in the interior of the island.

The genius of the ancient settlers has been passed down from generation to generation, and today, the Es Broll valley is one of the most beautiful landscapes on Ibiza. The cultivation terraces, carefully designed to make the most of the water, are a testimony to the know-how of the Ibizan farmers. This setting enables you to enjoy the authentic flavour of the Ibizan countryside, far from the hustle and bustle of the island's better known areas.

To reach Es Broll de Buscastell, take the road from Sant Rafel to Santa Agnès. After a few kilometres, you will reach the village of Buscastell. One kilometre further on, you will see the Es Broll road on the right. As you go along the path, you will begin to see the irrigation ditches that feed the crops. You can also get there from Sant Antoni, taking the Camí de Sa Vorera, which starts behind the football pitch, and continuing to the end, where it connects with the Camino de Es Broll.

The best time to visit Es Broll is in spring, when the sun shines after a period of rain, and the valley shows all its exuberance. This corner of Ibiza offers a hiking experience that enables you to connect with nature and the history of the island in its most natural and authentic form.
