A unique place to do your best shopping
Every Wednesday and Saturday, all year round, the beautiful village of Santanyí, 50 km from Palma, is transformed into a colorful market, one of the liveliest and most interesting in Mallorca. Far over 150 stands crowd the Plaça Major and surrounding streets; here you will find local products, clothing, accessories and crafts, as well as small designer and fashion shops.
Getting lost among the numerous booths is one of the best plans for spring or summer mornings. You can enjoy the typical pa amb oli - toasted bread with tomato, olive oil and sausage or cheese - in one of the many local bars while admiring the wonderful traditional houses of the village.
You will be surprised when you find that most buildings in the old town have a medieval flair. They were built with the sandstone of a nearby quarry.
After a few hours of shopping, you can visit some of the most beautiful beaches in the area, such as Cala Llombards, Cala d'Or or the beach of Santanyí, where you will find excellent restaurants with the traditional fish dishes.
