Garden de la Reina

The garden is an oasis of year-round flowers, water and shade, located in one of the main arteries of the city, connecting the historic area of La Seu and La Almudaina with the Paseo del Born, Palma's most glamorous shopping area.

It was built in the 1860s on the site of a small convent that no longer exists. The architect Josep Frontera wanted to incorporate the most modern trends in public gardening, aimed at beautifying the city and offering residents a place to reconnect with nature.

If visitors enter from the neighbouring square, they can appreciate the beauty of the space, which is filled with meandering lines, tall trees and evergreen shrubs. The construction details catalogue the eclecticism of the period: the balustrade on the side of the square, the stone benches that surround the small square around the spring and the rustic rocks used as planters.

On hot summer days, the Jardín de la Reina is the perfect place to cool down and relax while enjoying the city. High, hebe-covered walls protect the space from nearby traffic, while between the leaves hide fountains in the form of grosteques. At the top of the garden, a large and beautiful sunshade creates a refreshing spot.
