A perfect symbiosis of olive groves, orange trees, cliffs and the sea
The ancient Son Marroig stately home is linked to the inheritance of Archduke Lluís Salvador, who acquired it in 1877. Situated on a plain more than 200 metres above sea level, it became a landmark within the Miramar Park.
Visitors can enjoy the intimacy of the small domestic garden as they admire the immensity spanning the mountains, cliffs and the sea.
The garden spreads out from the back of the farm owners' house, shaded by a trellis. Visitors can walk along the paths that flank a stretch of water where colourful fish and ducks swim, relax in a picnic area built entirely of stone and discover one of the most monumental wells in Majorca. A towering date palm tree is the focal point of the garden, surrounded by olive groves and patches of orange trees.
A small path leads to the viewpoint: a classical pavilion built entirely of Carrara marble and inspired by that of the Villa Palaviccini in Genoa. It stands at the exact spot where Sa Foradada peninsula overlooks the deep blue sea, revealing the wild beauty deeply admired by the Archduke.
