Restaurant Celler Can Marron

On August 17th 2007 we started up a project we had been thinking of for many years. Initially it had no name or fixed abode; we talked and tried to create a mental image, a dream.

We worked and waited patiently for all the information, learning through experience, with enthusiasm and hope, until the day came when opportunity and coincidence came together and Can Marron appeared as that dream come true. 

This precious gift, a treasure of our tradition that came into being in the 17th century under the name of Cas Pagès and its subsequent renovations throughout all its history, is Celler de Can Marron, the residence and livelihood of the Llompart-Saurina family for over a hundred years. 

Faithful to tradition they produced wine year after year. Workers from the town of Inca came every morning to fill their wineskins with the treasured liquid used to alleviate the long working day of shopkeepers, cobblers, potters and farmers..... 

Fifty years ago now the owner of the Celler began cooking for people who asked her to, serving a dish of whatever she had prepared for the family, a glass of wine, a little bread and olives and a few toasted almonds... and this is how it came to transform, turning into a restaurant as it is known today. 

In appreciation of having become part of this story, we would like to offer you some of those early flavours that began to emerge from the stoves of the old kitchen, now lost in time and which come back to the silent memory of the whitewashed walls through the occasional pleasantly-surprised visitor to whose memory moments from childhood return, memories of grandmothers devoted to their chores all day long. Or reveal new flavours to the youngest amongst you, flavours full of nuances of all the varied, rich cultures that have survived thanks to hard-working, expert hands that enjoy their work. 

In our house you will find dishes made using quality raw materials, prepared painstakingly and presented with no superficial details, in what is a response to the intention of reaching an equilibrium that is appreciated for to its reasonable price and simple, familiar service.
