Visiting local producers

In Mallorca, for example, you can visit S’hort de Can Jaume, in Algaida, where they grow fruit and vegetables. Margalida Munar, its manager, likes inviting customers to discover the market garden and walk around the land she tends to every day.

In Es Convent, in Llubí, where they make the organic products of Ses Oliveres d’Es Convent, you can also visit the estate’s olive plantation, find out how the olive mill works and see hens living a cage-free life. It’s a great day out for the family. 

If you go shopping at Es Caparó farm in Vilafranca de Bonany, you can choose the fruit and vegetables you want at their small shop and sometimes you can pick the produce yourself directly from the market garden. Their slogan is: from our garden to your home.

Other estates, such as S’hortet de na Maria, also offer other experiences to enjoy a more rural Majorcan experience. At this farm in Sencelles, for example, they cook a dish of the day so that visitors can try their market garden produce. In summer, when food is more varied and abundant, they usually prepare a tasting menu. Healthy, natural and recently harvested. Food is served on Saturdays at 13.30 in winter and 20.30 in summer. You must call them to book.

It’s a perfect outing for families because while the adults enjoy an after-meal chat, the children can play in the farm’s facilities, which include a park and a large forecourt.
