Balearic Islands, closer : Formentera

They say Formentera is the last idyllic spot in the Mediterranean. And there are many reasons why that could be true. Just a 20-minute boat trip from its larger sister, Ibiza, every year this small island welcomes lovers of beauty in its most natural state, people drawn by its lighthouses and visitors wishing to immerse themselves in the silence of its imposing landscapes.

The island is also a perfect destination for nature lovers and active tourism fans. As it’s small, you can explore everything, whether on land along its many paths (by bike, on foot or on horseback), or by sea. Its waters are so crystal clear, it’s perfect for scuba diving.

DISCOVER THE SEAGRASS MEADOWS

Formentera guards an ecological treasure under its crystal-clear waters: the seagrass Posidonia oceanica. Don’t miss the chance to dive into the water and see the snakelike movement of this plant that generates oxygen, provides a refuge for several species and is responsible for the clarity of the waters surrounding the Balearic Islands.

THE ROUTE OF THE LIGHTHOUSES

The route of the Formentera lighthouses is magical. You will feel as if you are part of an incredible work of art. Make sure you discover the island’s most impressive landscapes in the light of its three lighthouses: Savina, Cap de Barbaria and Mola.

DISCOVER THE ISLANDS' GREEN CIRCUITS

Formentera has an intricate set of secret pathways that used to link the houses dotted around the island. It’s a pleasure to venture into this network whether on foot, a bike or horseback. That’s why the green circuits were created in 2016. There are 32 routes totalling 100 km of trails. By discovering the island’s traditional architecture, landscapes and ethnological aspects, you can uncover the traditional culture of Formentera’s people.
