Day of the Balearic Islands, the four islands dress up for their big day

The Day of the Balearic Islands offers you a rare opportunity to explore the main government buildings, museums and the most emblematic places of the islands. During a period of approximately 15 days, a substantial part of these areas hold open days to showcase their precious heritage. Monasteries, art galleries, museums and buildings such as the Consell de Mallorca, Palma City Council, Bellver Castle, the Balearic Islands Parliament and the Mallorca Cathedral open their doors to visitors.

A food tasting is organised at the Sa Feixina park in Palma with the participation of different restaurants. There you will find gastronomic routes and a flea market, located on the Passeig Sagrera, by the seafront, in the area between La Lonja and Sa Feixina. At this market you can find local artisanal crafts and food. Furthermore, the activity programme includes numerous exhibitions as well as artistic and sporting events.

Menorca features a tour of the Milà wind farm, harness racing in the Maó Hippodrome, Menorcan dressage sampling in es Castell and guided tours of stunning places such as the Cova des Coloms, plus musical performances.

On the Day of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza holds particularly interesting activities like light sail regattas in Sants Eulària, basketball and chess tournaments, trotting awards and an artisanal market in the Sant Rafael Hippodrome, with guided tours of the Puig des Molins Monographic Museum.

In Formentera, there are sporting events for everyday races and basketball, as well as concerts, exhibitions and a huge typical paella.
