A journey through the history of the best preserved fortress town in the Mediterranean
The best way to visit the small and steep streets of Dalt Vila is by foot. These historic cobblestone streets will take you to the top; from there you have a spectacular view of the island through the ridges of the fortified wall. The main gate, Portal de Ses Taules, is waiting majestically for you, flanked by Roman statues, to make a unique journey through this world heritage site of UNESCO.
The walled city on the White Island hides behind its walls an important cultural heritage of great artistic, historical and archaeological value. From the defense towers, the view is wonderful, especially if you go up to the cathedral square. It is dedicated to Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, patron saint of Ibiza. Below, the white domes of the Santo Domingo Church shine, and on the left you can see the most important square of the city, the Plaza de Vara del Rey.
In addition to the historical treasures of the city, you will find in Dalt Vila restaurants where you can enjoy the traditional cuisine, as well as shops and small stores with the works of local craftsmen.
