Day 1: Ibiza - Can Martinet - S'Estanyol Circular Route

To begin your trip around Ibiza, follow a circular route that starts in the town of Ibiza, passing through Can Martinet and arriving at the beautiful cove of S'Estanyol.  Explore some of the most picturesque and lesser-known corners of the island, enjoying sea views, pine forests and the tranquillity of small Ibizan coves. This route is quite easy, and can even be walked with prams specifically designed for hiking. The total distance is just over 13 kilometres and the duration is 4 to 5 hours.

Begin your adventure in the town centre of Ibiza, an ideal starting point to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the island. From there, head towards the Can Martinet neighbourhood, a quiet area on the outskirts of the city. This initial section of the route runs along several paths through residential areas. As you advance, the paths begin to descend, taking you along trails surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation.

You will reach a crossroads where you should take the path to the left, continuing the descent. The landscape becomes increasingly rural, with views of private farms and traditional huts, such as a small white light transformer hut that you will find on your way. The path, which follows a descending course, leads you to a wider path that descends directly to the cove of S'Estanyol.

The cove of S'Estanyol is one of those magical places in Ibiza, where time seems to stand still. The crystal clear waters and the serenity of this spot make it the perfect place for a break. There you can enjoy a refreshing swim or simply relax and contemplate the landscape, surrounded by the sound of the sea and the sea breeze. This little hidden paradise is ideal for a picnic or to enjoy the stillness away from the more touristy areas of the island.

After enjoying the cove, start the return trip following the same path, ascending until you reach the road. Turn left and head towards the village of Jesús, passing the football pitch. The road, flanked by stone walls, leads to the centre of the village. From here, you can see the typical white houses of Ibiza and the stillness that characterises this area.

Continue along the road until you reach Avenida 8 de Agosto, a more developed section where you will find points of interest such as the Torres Tallón ice-cream parlour. Cross the avenue at a pedestrian crossing in front of the Ibiza Gran Hotel and continue along Paseo Juan Carlos I towards the town of Ibiza. This walk offers views of the sea and the boats resting in the harbour.

Finally, return to the starting point, passing the loading dock, the fishermen's dock and the Comandancia de Marina, until arriving at the Yacht Club and the Maritime Station. This first day on the route will leave you with the sensation of having discovered a more authentic and natural side of Ibiza, far from the hustle and bustle, but close to its Mediterranean essence.

Day 2: From Cala Llonga to Sol d'en Serra, via Sol des Llibrell

The second day of your tour of Ibiza takes you to explore the east coast of the island, with an easy route covering approximately 5 kilometres. This 2-hour trip will enable you to enjoy some of Ibiza's most beautiful coves, while exploring coastal landscapes and sites of historical interest.

Start at Cala Llonga, one of the best known beaches on the island, surrounded by pine-covered hills. It is an ideal place to start the day, with its calm waters and wide white sandy beach. From there, take a coastal path that takes you northwards along the coast. This trail offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and you will be accompanied by the soothing sound of the sea.

The first point of interest on the route is the ancient Phoenician settlement of Cap des Llibrell. This historic site connects with Ibiza's rich history and takes you back to the time when the Phoenicians colonised the island more than 2,500 years ago. Although the remains of the settlement are modest, the site offers an interesting insight into the life of these ancient sailors and traders. From there, imagine what life was like in Ibiza in ancient times, when the Phoenicians used this strategic location for their commercial activities in the Mediterranean.

Continuing along the path, you will reach Sol des Llibrell, a small, isolated cove surrounded by cliffs that descend towards the sea. This place is rarely visited and is perfect for enjoying a moment of peace and quiet and contemplating the natural beauty of Ibiza in its purest state.

After enjoying this magnificent cove, follow the path that will take you to your final destination for the day: Sol den Serra. This cove is famous for its turquoise waters and rocky surroundings in spectacular contrast to the blue sea. You have arrived at an oasis of peace: the scenery here is stunning, with cliffs rising up around the cove and an atmosphere of serenity that is hard to find elsewhere on the island.

Return to Cala Llonga having enjoyed some of the most beautiful scenery on the east coast of Ibiza and discovered its deep connection with Mediterranean history and culture.

Day 3: Sant Joan de Labritja - Morna - Forn des Saig

Today, get ready for an exciting route to the heart of Ibiza that challenges your skills. Start in Sant Joan de Labritja, a charming village in Ibiza. Put on your best hiking boots, because you are going to walk about 14 kilometres on a medium-high level route.

Start your walk in the centre of the village, in Sa Cala Street. Leave Sant Joan and take the PM-811 road towards Cala de Sant Vicent. After a few minutes, you will find a dirt road on the left hand side that goes uphill. Follow it until you meet the PM-811 road again.

From here, continue along the road to the first path on the right hand side, right next to a rubbish bin. This dirt road climbs gently, and you pass a large water container and a high voltage power house. Further on, you will find a small shelter on the left and continue to the next crossroads, where you should take the path to the left.

As you ascend, enjoy breathtaking views of Es Canar and the island of Tagomago. You will reach a point where the path begins to descend sharply, offering spectacular panoramic views of the east of the island. At the next junction, take the dirt road on the left, avoiding the concrete road on the right.

The descent takes you into a valley, where the path becomes flatter. Surrounded by olive and carob trees, you will come to a fork in the road. Take the path to the right. On your left, you will see the remains of an old waterwheel.

Following this road, you come to an old warehouse that used to be Morna's water bottling plant. As you descend, the path becomes a road, but you will soon return to a dirt track on the left hand side, crossing fields and olive trees.

When you reach another fork, take the path on the right and continue along a path that narrows. At the next crossroads, turn left, cross a small bridge and continue along the path indicated as "Forn des Saig", marked as MTB route number 11.

This section takes you through a wooded area, with gentle slopes that become steeper as you progress. Follow the signs of the BTT route, ignoring side paths and ascending until you find a sign for the Refugio de Caza Estación Biológica (Biological Station Hunting Refuge). There, take the path to the left, following the MTB route signs.

Finally, the path joins another path, the Camí de s'Almangena, which takes you back to the road from Sant Joan to Sa Cala. Descend a few metres and find the path you took at the beginning of the day, returning to Sant Joan de Labritja.

Day 4: Portinatx - Moscarter Lighthouse

Continue your hiking route around Ibiza with a walk that will take you from the charming cove of Portinatx to the Faro de Moscarter, the lighthouse with the tallest tower in the Balearic Islands. Today you will cover about 12 kilometres on a circular route that will take you approximately 3 hours. The route is relatively easy, which will enable you to enjoy the views of this beautiful and peaceful area of the island.

It starts at the car park of the Portitxol beach in Portinatx. Look towards the Moscarter Lighthouse, visible in the distance, and start the walk leaving the beach behind you. From the car park, at the highest point, take the path to the right that climbs up the cliff. Follow the road adjacent to the coast along a small stony path. Stay close to the coast and avoid roads that go inland.

When you reach the lighthouse, leave it to your right and follow the path to the left, close to the cliff. Pass through a small gate between two walls and continue along the path along the coast, with the lighthouse at your back. Enjoy the views of Es Pla de Ses Formigues and Es Illots de Ses Formigues. Follow the path until you reach a stream. It descends along its course and continues to a small cove. Cross the cove and go up a path that runs along a small stream.

Once you have climbed up from the cove, follow the path marked by milestones (piles of stones). The area is very rocky and the path is not very well defined, so it is important to follow the milestones, always parallel to the cliff. The path will take you into the forest and then to another stream. Follow the stream and you will come to another small rocky cove. Cross the cove and continue along the clearly marked path, climbing a little. The path continues parallel to the coast, also marked by milestones.

From here, you will have views of Sa Talaia de Sant Vicent, Ses Formigues and Es Port de Ses Caletes. The path continues in the direction of Cala den Serra. You will cross two stone walls. After the second wall, you will find a path going down to the left towards Cala den Serra. Take this path to the right, leaving the cove behind you. Further on, the path becomes a road. Follow it until you reach the junction with the road to Sant Joan, Cala Sant Vicent and Portinatx.

Take this road to the right, in the direction of Portinatx. Walk until you enter the developed area of Portinatx and find another crossroads. Take the road to the right and descend to the main street. Turn right to reach the end of the road.

Day 5: Sant Mateu and the Torres den Lluc

Today marks the end of your 5-day hiking route through Ibiza, discovering the Ibizan countryside. Get ready for a circular route of just over 11 kilometres that will take you about 4 hours. Start in the picturesque village of Sant Mateu and head to the impressive Torres den Lluc, with its views and the remains of a mysterious fortress.

Start your walk at the church of Sant Mateu. Take the road through the village and follow the road. It passes by some football pitches and in front of the cemetery. When you reach the first dirt track on the right, follow it and cross the whole valley until you meet the road again. Turn left and then take the first road on the right. You will find a sign indicating Camp Vell and MTB route number 9.

Pass near some traditional houses called Camp Partit and follow the main path. Take the turn-off to the right, right next to the post marking MTB route number 9. Before you take the path to the left, you will see a well. At the next junction, take the path to the left until you reach an esplanade. There, take the path to the left that climbs a little and then descends to a stream.

Follow the path until you almost reach the cliff. Find a junction and take the path to the right, marked with milestones. Then, turn left onto a path that continues uphill until you come to a wide wall that leads to the Torres den Lluc, located next to the cliff.

The Torres den Lluc are part of a mysterious fortress of greater dimensions, although its exact purpose is unknown. Some historians suggest that they probably served as a last refuge for the inhabitants of these lonely areas, constantly threatened by pirate invasions. This privileged enclave enables you to keep an eye on the bay of Cala d'Albarca on the right and Racó Verd on the left.

To return, go back the same way. Take the path that continues straight ahead, leaving the path that led you to the cliff on your left. This path climbs up to a dirt road. Take it to the left and go down the main road.

When you reach a new junction, turn right and, a few metres further on, you will find another junction on the left. Go down there and leave the path that goes up to Camp Vell on your right. Continue descending until you reach the Can Pujolet farmhouse. Take the path to the left and follow the main path to the road. Lastly, keep left until you return to Sant Mateu.
