The same occurs if you decide to cross it from east to west, you can do it in just 35 minutes at a relaxed pace.
In this article, we offer you a route around Formentera by motorcycle while exploring its main attractions: beaches, monuments, parks, wineries, etc. You cannot miss it!
We start this section with a personalized map showing the island’s main tourist attractions that you must not miss on your biker route.
We have organized the route into a total of 6 sections to be covered depending on the time you have for your trip. We recommend that you dedicate at least 3 days to this wonderful island, but you may organize the trip as you like. You can even complete the 6 sections on our route in a single day.
As you will see, each section contains 3 tourist attractions in Formentera, although the travel time in each section can vary according to the distances between each location.
Start by relaxing on one of the most emblematic beaches in Formentera: Es Cavall d'En Borras, from where you can see a few small islands of Ibiza, relax on its fine white sand, and enjoy the flora and fauna of the Natural Area of Ses Salines.
Before continuing on your route, we recommend you lose yourself for a while in the dunes and juniper forest that you will find on the very beach.
From this point you can continue on to the viewpoint that will give you a unique view of the Estany Pudent Natural Protected Area. Take advantage of this location to take some photographs and share them with us!
We continue on from here to a visit to Punta Prima Tower, the largest of the defence towers built at each end of the island in 1762. You will love the feeling of being on an immense balcony facing the Mediterranean.
We end the section with these views and by relaxing in Envaste cove (En Baster), with its rocky character and protected from the wind. Do not leave here without taking a walk through the caves where the fishermen’s boats were once kept.
We start the tour at the Roman Castle of Can Blai, also known as Can Pins, a monument considered the oldest Roman heritage on the island of Formentera. You must not miss the sea views from this location.
After this taste of Formentera culture, relax on the beach of Ses Platgetes, also known as the beach of Es Caló de Sant Agustí, where the blue of its waters will leave you speechless. The combination of rocks and sand on the shore will allow you to enjoy the beach almost isolated from other visitors.
We begin this route by relaxing on the white sand of Migjorn beach (Es Migjorn), the longest on the entire island of Formentera.
At midday, we suggest you visit the Cap de Barbaria winery, where you can taste wines of the Monastrell, Fogoneu, Cabernet and Merlot varieties, in a unique setting.
Finally, we leave the last inhabited area behind us until we reach the Cap de Barbaria lighthouse, the southernmost point of all the Balearic Islands. You cannot leave the lighthouse without visiting the holed cave (cova foradada).
This time we begin the section by visiting the smallest cove in Formentera: Saona Cove. Despite its size, it has all kinds of services so you can relax and enjoy typical dishes without leaving the surroundings. You must not leave without taking a stroll along the cliffs of Punta Rasa, just 10 minutes from the beach.
What better way to finish this biker route than with magnificent views? To see them we will visit two favourite tourist spots: the viewpoint of Estany des Peix Protected Natural Area; and the Ses Salines Natural Park. These are two ideal locations to get to know these areas and carry out an increasingly popular activity: native birdwatching.
We have not forgotten food stops, given the wide variety of bars and restaurants for enjoying the cuisine of Formentera, we recommend using our search engine to find the best places to eat on the island.
And if you need more things to do and activities during your bike route around the island, here are some ideas for every taste. Now you only have one task left: to enjoy Formentera on your motorcycle!
