Discover all its secrets at the oil mills
Virgin olive oil has been produced for centuries on the Balearic Islands, as shown by the centuries-old trees that grow close to the sea, in the valley or at the bottoms of the mountains. This is one of the trees most associated with the Mediterranean landscape, and when they grow, they twist into true natural sculptures that will captivate you. Olive oil, an essential product in island gastronomy, is produced from the fruit of these and other younger trees, and in Mallorca it bears the Denomination of Origin “Oli de Mallorca” (Majorcan oil).
The olive mills often organise visits to the area olive groves and presses, where you will be shown the secrets of the process to obtain the best extra-virgin olive oil. They also offer samples of oil from different varieties of olives, in various degrees of ripeness.
