WHICH BEACHES AND COVES TO VISIT IN FORMENTERA

Formentera is the smallest island in the Balearic Islands and the only place in Spain where you will find beaches with truly turquoise and emerald waters. Furthermore, the island offers options for everyone: exploring the seabed, spending an unforgettable day with your family, practicing nudism in a wild natural environment and a long etcetera. BEACHES TO GO WITH CHILDREN OR THE FAMILY

As we mentioned at the beginning of the post, if Formentera is renowned for anything, it is for its idyllic beaches and coves. Here, we will tell you which the best are if your visit to the island is with the family.

  • De Migjorn Beach. What makes this beach special is its length, since it is 3.5 km long and 40 meters wide. It also offers all the services, parking is free, it has access for people with reduced mobility and numerous bars and restaurants, which makes it a more than appropriate place to spend a great day with your family.   • Saona Cove. In the south of the island, covering an area of 150 metres, Saona Cove is a mandatory stop in Formentera. According to those who have experienced it, it has the best sunset on the island. Its landscape, tranquillity and waters make it a magical place. Located between cliffs, the water is usually calm, so it is perfect for children to enjoy. It has free parking and some hotels and bars a few metres away.   • Es Pujols Beach. It is the most touristic beach in Formentera because of its location, which makes it very convenient, accessible and it has all the services. It is a good option for spending a day with children, although in high season it is usually more crowded than the rest. It also has numerous beach bars where you can rent a hammock, have an ice cream or a cocktail and it has free parking. It is 5 kilometres from La Savina and 13 kilometres from La Mola. BEACHES AND COVES FOR NUDISM

Formentera is known for its numerous nudist beaches and coves. A tip? Stay away from the most crowded areas, find your own corner and enjoy the surroundings.

  • Arenals Beach. It is a beach located in the south-east of the island, protected as a Natural Area of Special Interest. This beach has fine white sand and transparent and turquoise waters. You can get there from La Savina or from La Mola by car, since you can park near the beach. Here is a link with the exact location of the beach.

  • Ses Illetes Beach. It is one of the most famous and visited on the island, and many people say it is the best beach in the world! It belongs to the Ses Salines Natural Park of Ibiza and Formentera and is a nudist beach that runs along a shore of fine white sand. To get there by car you have to travel 4 kilometres from La Savina, but you can also access it by bike or boat. It has paid parking and a bar a few meters away.   • Caló des Mort Cove. What makes this beach special, in addition to the nature and its waters, are the old fishermen's huts that surround it. In this idyllic environment you can also practice nudism. To access it, we recommend you wear comfortable footwear since it is a rocky beach. From La Savina it is 14 kilometres away by car. Here is the location of this beautiful cove so you can get there easily from wherever you are.

  • Racó de S’Alga Beach. This is a beach on the tiny island of Espalmador, a completely virgin and natural place. It is notable for its length, since there is kilometre of white sand to take a pleasant walk along. Some define it as "the jewel in the crown" of Formentera. This beach can be accessed by swimming, by boat or even on foot if the tide is very low. It does not have any services since it is a Natural Park, so we recommend that you do not forget your backpack with water and protection. Take note of how to get there. You will not regret it!

  • Llevant Beach. This beach is 1.5 kilometres long and 50 meters wide, one of the largest in Formentera. It is located next to Illetes, on the peninsula of Es Trucadors. It is a beach where you can practice nudism in a wild and natural environment, since it is less crowded than others. It forms part of the Ses Salines Natural Park of Ibiza and Formentera. BEACHES FOR SNORKELLING AND DIVING

There are hundreds of ways to enjoy Formentera and one of them is through water sports and activities. Kayaking, windsurfing, sailing ... but speaking of transparent waters, you cannot forget snorkelling and diving, two star activities to enjoy on the island. Prepare your goggles, tube and open your eyes wide!

  • En Baster Cove. What makes this cove special is its virgin and isolated state, even in high season, which makes it perfect for contemplating its beautiful seabed with your goggles. To access it, choose good shoes (part of the way is by a footpath) and take the Sant Ferran de ses Roques road. Here is the location so you can easily get there.

  • Cavall d’en Borràs Beach. This beach is notable because you can find areas of Posidonia on the seabed, which makes it spectacular for diving. In addition to this, you can practice nudism. You can also enjoy beautiful views of two islands belonging to Ibiza, Es Vedrá and Es Vedranell. It is located very close to La Savina, between Savina Cove and Platgeta des Carregador.
