A quiet beach with a boatman's atmosphere in the village of Es Grau
In the south of the Albufera of the Gray, the important and protected wetland area of the Natural Park, you will find this sandy beach of almost 600 meters in length and 35 meters in width, on the banks of which is the small village of Es Grau.
It forms a small bay, where you will see many small fishing boats, especially llaüts - the traditional fishing boats of the sail - a landscape of fishermen and sailors full of simplicity and charm. The place is ideal for a day at the sea with the children, with shallow, clean, calm and transparent waters, where you can practice all kinds of water sports kayak or paddle surfing. Across the coast you will be impressed by the size of the Illa d'en Colom. The island rises 49 meters above the sea. It is a beach without services in a protected area, but in Es Grau you will find bars and restaurants where you can have lunch or dinner.
To get to the beach from Maó (9.7 Km) you have to follow the signs to the settlement Es Grau, leave your car in the village and walk to the beach. And if you love nature in pure condition, visit the s'Albufera of the Grau Nature Park, with appropriate footwear. Here you can observe thousands of birds that are rushing in this wetland on their travels between Europe and Africa.
